From the article: "Hours after the LDS Church announced its support Tuesday night of proposed Salt Lake City ordinances aimed at protecting gay and transgender residents from discrimination in housing and employment..."<br /><br />What that is saying to me is that although it should be obvious (to any average idiot) from the existing laws that you can't oppress gays, they're outright stating that you can't oppress gays. That would be "overstating something already covered by existing laws," which is what you recommend. If not, why pass new laws overstating something already covered by existing laws?<br />Sounds like someone is suggesting a particular group of society is at a disadvantage, and deserves special protection from the government that the rest of us aren't entitled to.
