Finally here:  Libertarian VP candidate Judge Jim Gray appears at DSU tonight at 6pm at the MLK Student Center (2nd floor). The event is free, and so is the parking. Other Libertarian candidates like Scott Gesty, Johnny Machurek, Wendy Jones, David Eisenhour, and Margaret Melson will be there as well.

. . . that in order to be able to claim you are an "ex-Libertarian" endorsing Mitt Romney, at some point in your life you actually had to be a libertarian in the first place.

. . . the way that most third-party candidate support evaporates as we get closer to election day: During the past week, new  polling results  for Libertarian nominee  Gary Johnson  have come from  Colorado ,  Montana ,  New Mexico ,  Ohio , and  Virginia . These new polls have Johnson winning 3% of the vote in Colorado, 7% in Montana, 7% in New Mexico, 4.5% in Ohio, and 3.8% in Virginia. A  Zogby poll  released on September 3 had Johnson at 4.3% nationally. While these numbers are not large enough to seriously challenge for the presidency, they do exceed the margin of victory between  President Obama  and Republican nominee  Mitt Romney  in every case.

Very simple.  Everybody who follows the battleground states already knows that the Virginia Elections Commission decision to allow former VA Congressman Virgil Goode, the Constitution Party presidential nominee, to stay on the ballot has probably killed Mitt Romney's chances to win in Virginia. Now here's why the GOP is fighting and dying to keep Gary Johnson off the ballot in Pennsylvania:   new polls show Obama with an 11-point lead in the Keystone State, either 50-39 or 51-37.  Neither poll included any third-party candidates.  But both polls show about 11-12% of the voters either as undecided or preferring another candidate. Do the math. If Obama does not collapse in PA (by which I mean losing more than a random 2% fluctuation), then Romney needs to pick up virtually all the current undecideds to be competitive.  Virgil Goode has already been tossed off the ballot by GOP chicanery.  Gary Johnson has survived the first attack, and while I honestly ...

. . . then to be consistent you really ought to condemn Obama for politicizing the incredibly small defense cuts called for under sequestration. And, by the way, they are not cuts.  They are reductions in the increase of growth of the largest military budget not only on the planet but in the history of the planet. Here's a thought that will be lost on pretty much all except Gary Johnson and Ron Paul supporters, but I will try it anyway: If you really have to do 48% of the entire planet's military spending to feel safe, then shouldn't you start asking yourself how you've pissed so many people off?

Mitt Romney's people send out yet one more shil to tell Libertarians to vote for their candidate and not your conscience. Mitt's worried.  As his position starts to collapse in the polls, the 4% Gary Johnson is getting nationwide starts to look easier to the GOP to go after than independents or conserva-Dems. So, because he hasn't really attacked President Obama effectively, he's going after the other guy in the room. Only problem is that it's not working, especially not on Ron Paul's supporters: Mitt Romney is just not going to cut it for many of Ron Paul’s devoted legion of young followers.   Most of the Ron Paul supporters approached by Red Alert Politics Friday night at the Liberty Political Action Conference in Chantilly, Va., said they could not see many differences between Romney and President Obama.
