A Different Incarnation of The Delaware Libertarian -- the Obligatory Introductory Post You Don't Need to Read.

2013: one of my proudest moments in Delaware Libertarian history as my daughter Alexis (who was 17 at the time) joined the Libertarian Party of Delaware and activist Chuck Mead-e garnering signatures for marriage equality. From late 2007 to Spring 2014 I published The Delaware Libertarian , aided and abetted by an ever-changing cast of co-authors, at a time when blogs (at least in the First State) were the heart and soul of political activism on all points of the spectrum. Between 2011-2013, this blog was the second most widely read political blog in the State. If you care, there are over 3,500 posts in the archives covering (then) current political news on both State & national levels; lots of reporting on Libertarian candidates & party infighting; policy commentaries; analytical pieces; amateur science fiction; and a whole series on Thai Ladyboys and sexual slavery in Southeast Asia. Then life happened, and all of us here got -- not quite bored, but at least uninspired -- an...

Because Waldo deserves an answer. . . .

. . . about my endorsement of Dr Eric Schansberg, Libertarian candidate for Congress in Indiana's 9th District. Dr Schansberg is an evangelical, anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage Libertarian, leading Waldo to this conclusion about why the LGBTQ community doesn't flock to the LP : I read Schansberg's personal blog- as if, somehow, he can compartmentalize his thinking between what he believes as a citizen and what he peddles to the public on his congressional blog. He's a mainstream homophobe.... If one of the Schansberg boys sits Mom and Congressman down one day in the future and says, "I'm gay," we can imagine what the reaction will be from the member of the Core Leadership Team for the Men’s Ministry at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville- and it won't be a Libertarian response. Schansberg Libertarians are just a greedier version of everyday Libertarians. The everyday variety preach a vague sort of live and let live doctrine; the Schansbergers- l...

Letters of an American to a young Cuban

Dear Yoani , I love to read your site. I read it in English and Spanish. I want to tell you sister...you might as well be writing about Glorious Conservative Cultural Revolution that is George W. Bush's America. A prolonged public flagellation is exactly what we need- all across the Americas until we can all cooperate together to make our hemisphere more peaceful and better for normal people. I mean, if your site is at all an accurate picture of life in Cuba, we are quickly becoming exactly the same as Cuba.....no one ever apologizes for anything, instead, they say things like "well we know there are problems, but what can we do, there are always going to be problems...." Or the "economy is not so bad" when over 47 million people live in desperate poverty another 120 million in real hardship...... With the obvious historical differences the cultural attitude is identical, the scary thing however is that it does not come from the left in America. It comes from th...

Dude- CATO what the F**k is Up? The Venezuelan award goes to....

.....a little fascist. Yes, you heard it right. The CATO institute awarded a right wing student leader in Venezuela $500,000 for opposing the Chavez regime although it is widely known his "student group" is neither libertarian or in line with any type of real free market ideology except the non-Adam Smith kind of managed markets for U.S. global corporations.... what the f**k is up that that CATO? You award fascists? You don't award the Libertario from Venezuela even? No mention of what the little fascist did to promote Bolivar's democratic vision in the nominations.... Have you lost your f**king minds, collectively? I never knew you awarded neo -mercantilism and fascism.... Like Eva Gollinger I see Exxon behind your award Yon, not liberty.... if you speak spanish, you can watch Eva parse it out here ... Why not give the brave Venezuelan Libertarians who helped stop a war with Colombia the award. Do you see that little f** k's name on any of it? No, he is a too...

Barney Frank's Eloquent Defense of Individual Freedom

Dear Rep. Frank, I would like to see freedom for all kinds of activity. Not just gambling. We have more victimless crime laws now than many totalitarian countries. Please ask your fellow congressmen to get the idea into their heads that a vice which an individual enjoys, is not the same thing as a crime where an individual harms others. http://www.lysanderspooner.org/VicesAreNotCrimes.htm
