You've got to have an ego at least the size of Delaware to think that people actually want to read your opinions on a blog--that we all take for granted.
But to inflict other forms of writing on an unsuspecting public....
Well, let's just quote the immortal (literally) Lazarus Long.
By the way, if you need me to tell you who Lazarus Long is, you should probably skip the rest of this post and anything else marked Saturday Night SF.
Some of you know that I write and publish extensively in history (nine books and numerous articles).
But I also aspire to write science fiction (who doesn't?).
So I decided to give a few hundred of my closest friends (or complete strangers) the opportunity to judge for themselves whether I can write SF that's worth a crap.
Every Sunday night (and I've got to hurry or I won't get this done by midnight) I will publish a bit of what I'm working on, usually in a continued-story format so as not to eat up so much space. Feel free to maul it in the Comments.
If nobody likes this, I'm sure it will go the way of some extinct small frog or other.

Writing is not necessarily something to be ashamed of--but do it in private and wash your hands afterwards.
