America: World's Largest Prison?

The only thing wrong with this post from Classically Liberal is that it gives too much power to former President Bush and doesn't have Americans themselves accepting the responsibility for what happened. As Rachel Carson said, in a very famous from Silent Spring : "The people had done it themselves." At any rate: The fear-mongering of Bush, combined with the hysterical cries of the "secure the border" crowd led to new restrictions. Of course, contrary to what the hysterics says, these restrictions actually restrict Americans not terrorists or would-be gardeners and day laborers. The war on terror was a fraud from the start, it was always a war on Americans. Every measure that was passed was used, first and foremost, against Americans not against potential threats to the country. All the new spying on bank accounts isn't being used to crack down on drug cartels or international terrorists but on Americans who have funds overseas, where the greedy hands of ...

Take heart, Democrats and Republicans--voters really ARE stupid enough to believe what the government tells them

The latest story about the TSA Gestapo wanting to grope a woman with an underwire bra didn't interest me half so much as some of the comments: Carolyn said... Happened to me once in Detroit airport right after 9/11. Humiliating and unnerving. So now I have a special bra with no underwire that I always wear when I fly. Clothing manufacturers take notice: use plastic for underwire rather than metal! Thanks Carolyn--we'll just change all out clothing choices to get permission to fly.... limabeano@aol.com said... Just a suggestion... I have stopped wearing large metal bracelets and necklaces as well as belts with large buckles when I travel to expedite my time going through security. To avoid any problems, perhaps all of us who are well endowed should forgo the underwires on travel days--a sports bra or non-underwire might be the solution to avoid those pesky pat downs. Yeah, limabean, it's obviously OUR problem.... petra.allen@verizonbusiness.com said... doesn't that woma...

TSA Gestapo formally makes travel a privilege not a right

From a longer, depressing post at Disloyal Opposition , three excerpts: T SA now plans to centralize the process of checking names against the watch lists in its own offices. Under the Secure Flight program, airlines will be required to supply lists of scheduled passengers to the TSA's crack clerical staff, who will then issue a "yay" or "nay" to each individual's travel plans -- essentially formalizing the process of making air travel a privilege to be dispensed by government officials.... The information the government compiles on travelers -- in particular, their comings and goins -- is about to get a lot more detailed. The Border Crossing Information system, recently announced by the Department of Homeland Security, will track, to the extent possible, everybody's movements into and out of the United States: BCI shall contain border crossing information, as that term is explained above, for all individuals who are admitted or paroled into the United S...
