If Gay Marriage should be a right, how about ladyboy marriage?
I think the case can be made that people should be allowed to do pretty much whatever the hell they want as long as they do not hurt others in doing so. It is only in cases of harm that government should intercede to protect the rights of both parties.
In parts of Asia where everything seems to be illegal, people do everything anyway.
I mean, who would ever really know that in the above picture of the Band they are all men? I bet half of you young men out there would love to marry one of these "girls" and only later (but hopefully not too late) figure out that they are not tastefully carrying a mango in their thong underwear.
This Platonism works for the happiness of each. I would be profoundly unhappy if he/she tried to accost me or touch me, and Tuk does not like Westerners as a rule for he/she it is Japanese-only.
No these are no hairy fat biker he/she's for sure, but he/she has shown me them too, so I know they are out there looking for their very own kinky Thai biker in red leather chaps. You know the lucky guy/girl I mean with augmentation but without hormone treatment....
In Thai, the language makes distinctions between many classes of sexuality without passing any judgement. Interesting concept huh? There is also a sense that peers can joke about anything, even the most intimate things without being rude.
In Thai puchai is a man, puying is a woman, puli (katuey in slang) is a he/she; no negative connotation associated, though lots of laughter when using them interchangeably. For example, if you see a puying who you call puchai, and a puchai who acts like a puying and a puli with a hairy body from a Scandinavian country.
The idea being that your happiness does not depend on what I think, your happiness depends on what you are and what you think of yourself. Just like my happiness depends on me and what I think of myself.
There should be as much flexibility and humor in our relationships with others, as we have about ourselves. This is only possible once we adopt a more tolerant attitude where everyone's rights are respected as human beings, not as part of a sexual class, only then is real friendship possible even if it is between a normal guy and a katuey.
In the end, no matter what sex you are, or say you are, I may not trust you and tease you about it, but only because teasing is the other side of friendship and the natural childlike affection that people are meant to have between peers-we should all only get mature and stuffy and indignant when any of our rights are infringed. I promise you however I will never understand why Americans are so uptight about this issue unless someone out there explains it to me clearly. Is it a cultural tradition? Is it being Puritan?
Becky has a nice take on it that when gay marriage comes to Utah the rapture cannot be far behind. I guess it is just whose behind we are discussing that matters in a literalistic sense.

I am proud to say that I have male friends who look like this, and one of them has been my friend for a long time, his/her name is Tuk and he/ she hails from Udon Thani, Thailand and moved to Bangkok and now works at near Wat Kanlaya on Charan Sanit Wong road near the elephant park but I would never think of getting to close to him/her in any physical way.
I would give him/her advice on meeting a nice guy. And he/she would never think of even touching me but always wants me to find some happiness in life....why is that?

Between that and the long comments about events south of the border, perhaps the expanded Delaware Libertarian needs a bigger name worthy of its new remit: say, The Delaware Libertarian, Andean Vade Mecum and Contemporary Fetishist?
