If community is not at least one major purpose of blogging, blogging has no purpose...

The reason why real civility matters, and not the fake carping about profanity or bad taste, is that the absence of civility eventually acts like a corrosive toward our ability to feel empathy for each other.

People are more than words scrawling across the screen.
