House Bill 17 : Worth Supporting

Rep. Hazel Plant has introduced a worthwhile piece of legislation.

If someone has fully "paid their debt to society", there should be no waiting period for full constitutional rights in our election process.

I hope it is adopted.

AN ACT PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE V, SECTION 2, OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE RELATING TO QUALIFICATIONS FOR VOTING.

This Act is the first leg of a Constitutional Amendment which eliminates the existing five-year waiting period before eligible felons who have fully discharged their sentences may have their voting rights restored.

I support this, too. If you completed the penalty imposed by the system, then damn it, your "time" has been served, completely. There is no reason to keep one of the highest rights of this country (voting) away from such a person.

why only voting rights?

why not all rights?

(because it's about steeling elections, not rights)
