Outing somebody's pen name is a pretty serious step, because there can be a lot of legitimate reasons for using one.
On the other hand, regarding those who blog under their own names (and therefore accept direct accountability for what they publish), there probably is a limit to the number of times some people are willing to read juvenile name-calling because they happen to disagree with policy positions.
Oh. Yeah:
‘What is freedom of expression? Without the freedom to offend, it ceases to exist’, Salman Rushdie.
But the corollary to this credo would be...
Those who exercise the right to offend lose the right to thin-skinned whining.

They are cutthroat over there. I wish them no ill, but I frankly want nothing more to do w/ them.
Yeah, I saw that donviti was bragging about how all the insiders, politicos and the News Journal all keep up with DL. Which, if true (which I doubt), bodes not very well for the state of intellectual discourse. Just about every other DE blog possesses more intellectual rigor and better writing/grammar than DL, yours and this one being tops in my book.
But hey, it actually makes sense, 'tho. I read way back when that the NJ was written at a 6th grade level. Thus, it and DL are made for each other.
Highly informative opinion.
Can I guess your source? Liz or Nancy?
I can say with 100% accuracy on my part, I don't read you b/c well, I don't read you. Other than that I know of no "plot" to stop going to you bro.
Honestly Dana, you are way off base on this one. WAY off base.
now to the original point. If you come to DL with stupidity, you will be slammed for it. Bring the talking points and be prepared to be called an idiot etc.
It's not about having thin skin, it's about not being able to take the retaliation.

It is not enough to simply disagree with Republicans and point to evidence that they were worng about everything for 8 years.
You almost have to call them goatf*ckers once in a while because that is all they understand. Evidence and counter arguments and facts and rationality is so much liberal blah blah blah to them.

If that were actually true, it would be fine.
Sadly, the issue is often not talking points but simply different opinions.
"Republicans are un-American" (and I'm not even one) is not even a talking point. It's not even meant to be funny, or to be hyperbole any more, it's just a fairly pathetic attempt to echo what jason perceives as the GOP tactics of the past 8 years.
They worked so well, apparently, that you all decided you cannot beat the gestapo without putting on brown shirts....
And Jason says it's a free country? Not if they ever got their way ...
funny coming from a libertarian
Again, you make his point perfectly.
Give me a break, nemski.
Calling Dave Burris "a fatass piece of human garbage" and anybody who doesn't agree with the current stimulus package "un-American" is the height of wit?
You can do and say what you want, but by doing so you pretty much forfeit the right to criticize other people for reacting in kind.
It's downright ridiculous for the people who invented "attack dog Democrat mode" to start whining about other people dissing them.
really informative...
