Given that President-elect Barack Obama included gay Americans in his victory speech, would it be too much to ask that he use the bully pulpit of the Presidency to advocate for marriage rights for all Americans?
I mean, I know he opposes it personally, hewing to the idea that his own religious convictions should determine the State's definition of marriage, but seeing as how even Slate argues that it was legions of his supporters who pushed Prop 8 to victory in California, maybe he could do a little ... education for his supporters.
Got a mortgage payment here that says it's not going to happen, as much as I would love to be proven wrong.

My personal perspective is quite different. I think Prop 8 sucked.
